Alva Jean Baston

Alva Jean Baston was born On October 12, 1937, Alva Jean Jones, affectionately known as Jean, was the fourth of eight children

born to Ruthie Lee Connery in Marshall, TX. She was raised and educated in Fort Worth, Texas. Alva

Jean Jones married Hensley Baston on November 8, 1955. Together they raised 5 children.

For more than 40 years she served as a cook in various places including the Fort Worth Independent

School District, Texas Instruments, and The Women’s Club of Fort Worth. Jean loved the fellowship of

family and friends and fashion. In her youth she served as President of The Fashionette Club. She was a

faithful member of the Mt Caramel Baptist Church serving as an usher while she was physically able.

Jean departed this life on April 30, 2023. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruthie Lee Connery

and stepfather, Willie Connery, her brothers, Leonard Jones, and Leon Jones (twins), Hershel Jones,

Willie Frank, and Freddie Connery, sisters, Mary Powell, and Lena Connery.

She leaves to cherish her memories, children, Debra Miller (Leon), Karen Hugh (Carl), Hensley Baston,

Jr., Beverly Holman (Woodrow), Ronald Baston; 24 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great

grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
