Service will be held Saturday, November 1, 2014 One Hour Before High Noon Southwest Central Church of Christ 4011 West Belfort Street Houston, Texas Minister Steve Sargent, Officiating A time to be born, Susie Mae Walker was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on March 23, 1947 to Ellis and Precilla Lockett. She was reared with her siblings, James, Ellis, Eton, Marjorie, Alberta and Etna. One can image the laughter and memories this family shares with each other. A time to learn, SUSIE enrolled in Thomasville School; grade school as it was once referred to in Glenco, Louisiana. She later graduated from Franklin High School in Franklin, Louisiana. Upon completion of high school she furthered her education in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she attended an all-girls private school. Moreover, her extensive studies led her to move to Houston, Texas where she worked as assembler with Houston Electronics. A time for enjoyment, SUSIE loved people. In her spare time she would often cook for family and friends, when she wasn’t sewing. Additionally, Susie had a strong love for bowling and was an active member of a bowling league. She, like others was an avid watcher of the famous game show, Wheel of Fortune; and a great player of the 80’s video game Ms. Pac Man. A time for service, SUSIE was active and strong member of the Church of Christ where she served until her health began to fell. Her favorite scripture, “God will supply all your needs” can be found in Philippians 4:19. Her favorite saying was, “blessed and highly favored”. A time for a family, SUSIE was married to the late Clyde Brooks and two handsome son were born, Ron and Eric. Upon the demise of Mr. Brooks, Susie met and married Herbert Walker and her beautiful daughter, Crystal was born. Her children were the “love” of her life. There was nothing that she would not nor did not do for them. She believed in the scripture, “See, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward”. Psalm 127:3 A time to mourn, On Wednesday, October 22, 2014, SUSIE heard the master’s call, “come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden; I will give thee rest”. She is now reunited with her late husband, Clyde Brooks. A time to cherish, Those left with fond and wonderful memories of Susie are her children, Ron Brooks (Joy), Eric Brooks and Crystal Shepherd (Joseph); grandchildren, Jasmine Rawls, Mikail Brooks, Jacoby Valentine, Eric Brooks, Jr., Jailyn Brooks, Sydnee Shepherd and Sabrina Shepherd; one great-grandchild, Xavier Rawls; uncle, Alfred Beals and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
