Dr. Harvey Lee Hollmon was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 12, 1942, the son of Jesse and Ellen Hollmon. He grew up in the ninth ward and was educated in their public school system. He began preaching at the age of 7 and preached throughout the city. After graduating high school he moved to Dallas, Texas to attend Bishop College to further his career in ministry. He married the late, Johnnie Mae Randle on Dec. 21, 1968. They were blessed with two sons, John and Stephen. Pastor Hollmon was Dean of the Interracial Baptist Institute for a number of years before beginning his pastoral journey at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Asa, Texas. He furthered his pastoral journey to pastor 2 more churches lastly the Alta Mesa Park Baptist Church for a total of over 46 years. He retired in 2023 after health challenges overcame him. He transitioned from this life at home peacefully on the Thursday evening- July 18, 2024.
He leaves to cherish his memories his sons, John and Stephen; three sisters; one brother; one grandson; one granddaughter and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
