Peggy Joyce Nuttroy, born on October 30, 1942, in Paterson, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home in Forest Hill, Texas. She was the beloved daughter of James Mose Satchell and Dorothy Goldie Mapp. Peggy attended Eastside High School in Passaic County, New Jersey, and went on to earn her degree as a Surgical Technician from Tarrant County Junior College (TCJC).
On November 21, 1964, Peggy married the love of her life, Freddie Lee Nuttroy, in Paterson, New Jersey. They shared 56 years of a beautiful and devoted marriage until Freddie’s passing in 2021. Together, they lived abroad in Japan during Freddie’s military service, traveled the world, and built a loving family. Peggy was deeply involved in their community and took great pride in supporting and uplifting those around her.
Peggy’s devotion to service extended beyond her family and community. She was a Past Grand Princess Captain. And played key roles in many Masonic organizations, where all who knew her deeply appreciated her leadership and dedication.
Peggy is survived by her loving children, Carmella Nuttroy (daughter) and Jerome Nuttroy (son), as well as her cherished brothers, James Satchell and Joseph Satchel, and sister, Emily Glover. She will be greatly missed by her three grandsons, David Urteaga (Tiffany), Jamal Nuttroy (Vivian), and Joshau Nuttroy, as well as her two adopted grandsons, Arthur Diggs (Tiffany) and Marquis Byers. Peggy was also blessed with one great-grandson, Javion L. Nuttroy, and two adopted great-grandsons, Liam and Justin. She leaves behind two adopted great-granddaughters, Jasmine and Bria.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Freddie L. Nuttroy; her father, James M. Satchell; her mother, Dorothy G. Mapp; and her sister, Ethel M. Canady.
Peggy's memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her kindness, warmth, and generosity. She leaves behind a profound legacy of love, faith, and commitment to others. May she rest in eternal peace.
